Review Focus
Error Handling
- Missing error checks or bare
_ discard without justification.
- Missing error wrapping with context (
fmt.Errorf("context: %w", err)).
- Using string comparison instead of
errors.Is/errors.As.
- Swallowed errors: caught and logged but not propagated or handled.
- Missing sentinel errors for errors callers need to check.
- Inconsistent error response format (should use RFC 7807).
- Leaking internal error details (stack traces, SQL errors) in API responses.
Concurrency and Goroutine Safety
- Goroutines without cancellation path (no context, no done channel).
- Goroutine leaks: started but never stopped, missing cleanup on shutdown.
- Data races on shared state without mutex or channel protection.
- Unbounded goroutine creation without semaphore or worker pool.
context.Background() used inside goroutines instead of parent context.
time.Sleep polling instead of tickers, channels, or proper sync.
- Goroutines launched in
init() or package-level variables.
- Missing
errgroup where concurrent operations need error propagation.
HTTP Server and API
http.ListenAndServe without &http.Server{} timeouts.
- Missing graceful shutdown (no signal handling, no

init() doing non-trivial work (side effects, I/O, goroutines).

Performance
- Unnecessary allocations in hot paths.
- String concatenation with
+ in loops (use strings.Builder).
- Missing pre-allocated slices when length is known.
- Unbounded memory growth (appending without bounds, no streaming for large payloads).
- Missing
context.WithTimeout on outbound calls.
- Missing benchmark tests for performance-critical code.
Guardrails
- Stay read-only.
- No speculative issues and no style-only commentary.
- Do not review
vendor/, .git/, or build output directories.
- Use
